Panty Bomb

Today was a rainy, dreary day in Columbia and the Frashey's got bored. We had lunch at Adrianna's in Five Points. Yum. Then went back to the suite until FF had to go into the office of public health. While we were passing the time goofing off in our suite, we saw the panty bag my Aunt sent me. She went to a Big Lots or some sort of discount store that was going out of business and cleared out their lingerie sale. She sent me a huge bag of panties and other stuff. Some of them were cute, the Frashleys divided them up. Some of the other panties were crazy, weird, 1980s high wasted floral and satiny panties. We did not want these. The bag of our rejects has just been sitting around to be taken to the thrift store. The freshaman boys live down the hall from us and we have a lot of pleasure just basically giving them hell. We got the crazy idea to take one of the crazy panties and hang it on their door handle, so we did. We left the "panty bomb" on their door handle. We did it totally anonymously and think it is hilarious. We think we can get away with torturing them because we are so much older than they are. Wonder how they liked the "panty bomb"...haha

Wedding Project

I presented my HRTM 590 project last night. It went really well. The Great Gatsby theme really is a terrific idea. The bridesmaids wore a pale buttercup yellow strapless tea length dress. I put a ridiculous amount of time into the project and really called each vendor I needed to use so I had a realistic budget. The most expensive, no surprise here, was my catering costs. My dress was a little on the pricey side too. It is the prettiest dress ever (see previous post for picture). The fantasy wedding took place at PR's home in the front yard. One of PR's friends married me free of charge. I had the reception at the fabuous Hilton Garden Inn in Anderson, where I did my summer internship. I am including a copy of the menu I designed. Eddie at Marret's Florist right by PR's house was such a huge help. He led me to choose calla lillies for my flower. I also had calla lillies on my cake to carry out the theme flower. Centerpiece on tables at reception are mixed white flowrs. Eddie at Marret's helped me with this also. The table cloths will be white, floor length. I am using 5 foot tables, which seat 8 pple each. No place cards, as I want guests to mingle and dance. The dinner will be buffet style.

This costs me about 32 per head. Ouch.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

I got a chance to catch up with one of my favorite people over Thanksgiving Break, Jim V. I saw Jim while I was doing my guest star appearance in the Islander. I had a few spare moments to sit down and shoot the breeze with him. As always, the conversation drifted and I learned something about Jim that surprised me. I have known Jim for years and he has a never ending supply of stories. When Jim lived in France he met two people that interest me, Truman Capote and Jack Kerouac.
Ashley and I are still waiting for the spirit of Truman to give us a call on the Hello Kitty phone.

New Job!

Tuesday I start my new job at the Office for the School of Public Health. Today I went in with my DL and SS card and filled out some paperwork. The guys I work with could not be more wonderful. In addition, my good friend Benson will now be my co-worker. I will be doing office work, clerical duties such as copying, filing and putting together packets. The office is involved in a lot of AIDS education, which I am interested in. I am looking forward to starting Tuesday and getting involved with everything going on in the office.
Below, Princess Di and Elton John.

Tiny Dancer, Indian Princess and PR

The Blue Book is so spectacular. Love the Hemingway quote, pictures of Susan, and the picture of PR at the very end. When are the three of us hitting the open sea on a gatsby-esque Christ Craft?
I can just see it now. Me in the new Victoria's Secret Zebra swimsuit I am ordering ( I am also ordering it in a classic red) and high heels. Ashley in her transparent white tunic over her black bikini and high heels. PR at the wheel in the classic button up and jeans, only bare feet instead of boots.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was good. I didn't eat too much. Shawn and I did have Outback Wednesday night when he came in from Alabama. I had the New York Strip with a horseraddish cap. Yum. I have not been good about working out. This time of the semester is soo soo hectic. I am making myself go to the french tutoring lab two times before Friday. Friday is the oral interview in French. Boo.
The Islander was exactly the same. I made pretty good money and enjoyed myself. Saw some regulars I have not seen for a while. Friday night when I got off Bradleigh and Jenn came in and we hung out at the bar for a while. I haven't seen either one in a while so that was fun. We told one of the kitchen guys some stories of days gone past and he seemed very amused. It was probably more amusing for us though. We have decided that time is to be referred to as "The Three Ring Circus".
Shawn came over for Thanksgiving and met my grandparents for the first time ever. Before he got there my Grandfather asked if Shawn had a sense of humor and I thought 'oh no, poor Shawn is in for it" but everything went smoothly.
More later, I have some interesting stories from The One and Only Jim at the Islander. Now, Frashleys are going to Damon's for dinner. I am wanting a really good salad. They have great Bloody Marys but I think I will have to be good.

HRTM 590 - Fantasy Wedding Project

Something old, something new, something borrowed . . . and something due?
It is due, and soon, my HRTM 590 project that is. I would rather have a project due than a baby anyday if that was what it sounded like with something due. I have been super productive today and have gotten a lot of the project done. I at least have a huge head start. It is not due until the weeek after Thanksgiving break. I thought I might share some of my ideas.

Oh, look: It's me at my wedding with two of my guests.

Here I am in my fabulous wedding gown.

This is my best friend and Maid of Honor, Ashley Frashley. She is in charge of making the wedding party behave. You better do what she says!

This is my wedding invitation. I made this one on the computer but I would have it professionally done if it was for real. On really heavy paper. The ceremony will be taking place at PR's home. The reception will be immediatley following at the Hilton where I did my internship. I will post my menu when I finish it, it is really great.

Today

Today the Frashleys went to the game against Middle Tennesse. The weather was great, sunny and not too chilly or too hot. The student section was full so we had to sit in some hinky section. We still had a good time despite this.

When we came home from the game we read PR's blog. We are big fans of PR's blog and especially enjoyed yesterday's post entitled Susan. If you haven't read it yet, check it out. We want to go to Aspen with PR as our guide. The post playlist inspired us so we spent the afternoon grooving to Sunset People by Donna Summers. What a great song! We were born in the wrong era. If only Columbia had a discotheque we could go to!!

Island In The Sky

Over Thanksgiving Break I will be doing something that surprises even myself. I will be doing a guest star appearance at my very first job ever. I will be waitressing for two nights at The Islander. As I said, this was my first ever real job. I started working there in July of 2001 when I was 16. I quit in July of 2004 when I was 20 years old. At the time I quit I was totally burnt out on food service and dealing with the public. I didn't think I was too good to be a waitress, I was just worn out. I was certain it would be a permanent retirement. I have rethought this and am coming out of my hiatus for a brief reappearance. I don't know if I could go back to being a waitress for a long period of time, but I do need the money so working just for the Thanksgiving holiday is perfect. I really do need the money and I know that I graduate in a year so it is not forever. In fact, it is only two days. As far as next semester I have been considering finding a place to waitress. I am not sure my schedule will allow this (food lab) and I have got to do well and not have to drop any classes or it will put me behind graduating. Graduating is the most important thing in my life right now. I am actually really excited about my guest spot!

The food at The Islander is actually really amazing.
Might I recommend the Beach Club with fries, The Greek Salad, The Cobb Salad, Calamari, The MexiWrap with Fries and the Grill Chicken Sandwich with veggies. Also, the Filet with the bleu cheese sauce stuff is amazing.

The Universe Responds

The Universe Responds, it's so true. I have become a big believer in positive thinking over the past few years. I really think there is something in the universe that you can will something to work.
Tonight on Larry King Live this was the topic. James Ray was a guest. www.jamesray.com
Some tips on positive thinking:

Visualize what you want, imagine how this will feel, feel the feelings of having it happen. Next, make a list of things you are already grateful for in your life right now.
Finally release into the Universe. Trust that the Universe will find a way to make it happen.

Get what you want in life by thinking it.

Attract what you want in life.

If you give it, it comes back to you, Give abundance, Get abundance.

In 2003 I lived in Clemson. This was miserable (except for the great friends I had, Jamie, Jenn B, Bradleigh, Jess C and Steven E) I worked two jobs and barely had enough to make rent. I didn't go to school or know how I would ever be able to find a way to go back. Now I have made some changes in my life. I moved to Columbia and am close to graduation. My last two semesters are going to be tough, I have to take the food lab next semester, but still there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I am going to get back on track with my positive thinking and visualizing goals starting today. I am also practicing my jazz dance with Lil A this weekend with a newfound focus.

A and F are also making a square for the USC AIDS quilt over the weekned. We are going to pick it up from the health center tomorrow. I will try to scan mine and post it once it is finished.

On TV Now

Lil Ash has gone to the drugstore to get cough drops. She is not feeling well. I am here alone watching TV. A great movie is on, A River Runs Through It. This kind of movie is usually not the kind I like, but A River Runs Through it is really pretty good. I haven't seen it since I was in high school. Mr. Chris Smutzer, our British Lit teacher in 11th grade, loved this movie. And fly fishing, which he told us about often.

Another Brad Pitt movie that is always on at the Holidays is Legends of the Fall. I have spent many a Christmas Eve watching this movie. I especially like the Native Americans in the film. My Grandmother Jane out in Texas is part Cherokee Indian. I had an old boyfriend who called me "Pocahontas" and "Indian Princess". The name has really stuck, my Mom calls me "Indian Princess" and "Pocahontas" now.

Another Holiday favorite of mine, Meet Me in Saint Louis. I really think this was Judy at her finest. Christmas In Conneticut is okay too.

Daddy Never Understood (Unless He's PR)

Daddy Never Understood, a great song from a great movie (KIDS) We highly recommend it. We espcially recommend it if you are a teenager. Every teenager should be made to watch KIDS in school. PR understands the Frashleys.

For PR:

Homework

Tonight the Frashleys are working on their French assignment. The assignment is to make a postcard, then write a note to Madame (in French) on the back. You prentend like you are somewhere in France as you are writing the message. I made mine as if I were on vacation in St. Tropez. I am about to go to Gstaad, Switzerland. I have gone to Dior to purchase a purse and to Chanel for sunglasses. It has been a most fun assignment. Ashley is doing her's as if she is in Paris. If only...

PR and Our Playlist

This is just for our friend PR. Barbie at the range!

AF and PR had some crazy ghost hunt adventure this weekend. I am still sketchy on the details. I sat it out because I went to Party for the Animals at The Handlebar in Greenville.

On The Frashley Playlist:

The Entire New Justin Timberlake CD, we just can't turn it off!
Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing
Scissor Sisters - Mary
Scissor Sisters - Monkey Baby

I think I like the Barbie with the post titled Politcal better.

Who Dosen't Love Fluffy White Powder? (We're Talking About Snow)

We love love love the Novemeber issue of W Magazine. It has two articles about skiing. I should explain now that this winter I will be going skiing for the very first time ever. Shawn and I are going to his Dad's mountain house in Boone, NC for vacation. W has a great spread on the designers winter sport collection ( p 152). On my Christmas list the Escada ski pants, black Chanel skis, and Dior ski goggles. Also page 170 " It's no secret that there's plenty of illicit apres-ski action. "There's just as much powder off the slopes as there is on", says one regular."

All That Jazz

Last week the Frashleys resumed jazz class. FF did an arabesque torgetae. Both my feet went off the ground, I can't say it looked perfect, but still. Here is our man, Mikhail Baryshnikov. Isn't he amazing? He is like the best ballet dancer in the world. I just want to know why, if he is a ballet dancer and Sarah Jessica Parker is also a professionally trained dancer they never wrote a dance scene into Sex and the City? I mean couldn't they have worked it in somehow?

Like, Who Knew?

I can't believe I didn't know. The elite have their own myspace. It is www.asmallworld.net The Frashley's probably won't be on it anytime soon as it is invitation only. We don't know anyone on it. We should, but we don't. Oh well, maybe when I enter the professional world next December (yes FF is still counting down till graduation). In the meantime, I think I may delete my myspace account it just seems so passe. Pictured, Tinsley Mortimer.

So Political

Ever feel like you've lost your head? Today Ashely and I walked to Moore Elementry in the rain to vote. We are not divulging who we voted for. We did vote NO to Amendment 1. It was a long walk but we were glad it made us exercise. We ordered Jimmy John's for lunch. We both had the Country Club with no ham. Very delicious. Besides voting we haven't done much. Tonight at 8 we are going to a drag show. Should be interesting! I need a spa treatment, so does our girl Barbie here.
